Rather later in the last century than the appearance of the "ever
suspect" CE, Pius XII canonized Joan on 28. May 1950.
[Surmising that J. might have been canonized around then -- in the very
late '40s the Roman church appears to have systematically reviewed old
causes and cults with an eye to increasing its number of women saints
--, I went straight to the Santi Beati site and there got confirmation
of my hunch:
http://www.santiebeati.it/dettaglio/39600
But a Google search for the combined terms "Joan of Valois" and
"canonized" yielded many sites that give the year of this event and at
least one that also gives its month and day. Privileging the CE is not
always a good approach to information gathering.]
