medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Latham's Revised Medieval Latin Word-List gives "biga" as a cart (c. 1194, 1510) and crosslists to "bica," a "bike," i.e. nest or swarm of bees (1250, 1277 or "biga" 1397), locating the word to N.W. England. The OED refines "bike" to wild bees or hornets.
Best,
John
