Dear List members,
Its often claimed that trials done in other settings are not relevant
to primary care. While it seems reasonable that the absolute risk
reduction might change, but not the relative risk reduction. I have
searched for examples (eg using individual patient data meta-analysis
AND (setting OR (primary AND secondary))) but can't find any examples.
One study showed small but not clinically important differences
between 3 settings (Szilagyi P, Vann J, Bordley C, Chelminski A,
Kraus R, Margolis P, Rodewald L. Interventions aimed at improving
immunization rates. Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2002;(4):CD003941.)
Do you know of *any* examples that compare RCTs in different settings?
Many thanks
