medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
http://standish.stanford.edu/
I'm fairly sure this web site has been mentioned here before, but in the
spirit of Christopher Crockett's suggestion that I post news of on-line
text resources (specifically new additions to Gallica), I thought I'd let
people know about some of the highlights at Stanford, in particular some
reference books in the "dated but still useful" category.
By all means visit the site and browse or search for yourself; they have
quite a few other works worth knowing about. Unfortunately, many of the
sets are incomplete (for example, they have only 4 out of the 38 volumes
of the Vive\s edition of Albertus Magnus), but some are complete or close
to it. As you can see from the file sizes, you probably won't want to
download any using dial-up connections.
Full standard library cataloging is provided at the site, enormously
better than what's typically used at Google Book Search and Archive.org's
text library.
I want to thank my friend and fellow listmember Al Magary, who wrote me a
couple of days ago that Stanford had recently added some volumes of the
Favre Du Cange and thereby inspired this post.

[Six volumes of Favre's 10-volume edition are at Gallica, reproduced from
a 1938 reprint. Gallica's photographic reproduction of the work is better
than some at their site, but the print copy they used was not as clear as
the 19th c. original scanned by Stanford and so I've provided links to the
7 volumes there, supplemented by the two at Gallica but not at Stanford to
bring the total to 9. Unfortunately, *both* sites lack volume 1.]
