If the person concerned contacts the Press, Public Relations and Education section at British Antarctic Survey, they will help with far more material than they ever wanted! This web site will help: http://www.antarctica.ac.uk/Resources/schoolzone/index.html where there is a pelthora of material, much of it compiled as a teaching pack in consultation with experts on the National Curriculum.
As well as maps published by British Antarctic Survey (http://www.antarctica.ac.uk/magic/newmapcat/mapcat.html), the Ordnance Survey has also published a wall map. There is extensive digital information at www.add.scar.org, which might be of interest to an IT literate student carrying out a project.
Best wishes

dear Sir or Madam,
My partner sadie frankham, is a teacher of year 1 children at Daneshill
School, Sherbourne st John Basingstoke Hants.
At present she is under taking the task of teaching her class of 5 to 6
year olds all about the continent of antarctica.
together we have spent hours on the internet looking for any
information ,photos, dvds etc about this subject.
weve even been in contact with h m s endurance which is on a 6month
tour of antarctica, and sadie has had some positive feedback from the
ship.
sadie would love to have a large wallmap of antartica, but due to her
finnancial constrants at present she is unable to purchase a map of that
size.
this is where i get cheeky and ask you, please do you have an old wall
map of antarctica that you could donate to sadie and her class to help
with this project. if you have one to spare they would be very grateful
indeed and im sure that it would help the children understand the
importance of antarctica to the world.
thankyou for your time and trouble in this matter.
bill greenwood (sadies partner)
