Dear Zooarch members,
Apologies for the following query only being half-zoological, but hopefully
some people are involved in differentiating human from other animal bones.
I am trying to research any differences between human and animal bones that
might be observable (hopefully non-destructively) on small fragments of bone.
Some people have suggested differences in surface texture between human and
non-human bone - does anyone agree? I cannot find whether anyone has
actually tested this.
I am also interested in bone thickness as a possible method for distinction.
If anyone has any thoughts on these methods (or any others at all), I would
be most grateful.
Many thanks,
