Dear Ruth and Ros,
I just would like to share with you some of my ideas regarding your latest
emails.
There are a couple of points that I would like to remind you first though. Ros
sent the email to the syntax mailgroup instead of just me on Tuesday
the 3rd (3
days later then the deadline) saying "(we) need a few more days to prepare and
check it (the abstract)- please could I have a brief extension until Monday
(Oct 9)?" which would actually mean 9 days after the deadline. It also appears
from the email that you have not even started working on the abstract yet and
you need these 9 days to do so.
It is true that I accepted some late submissons which were only 2 or 3 days
late. I could and would do this because everybody can have last minute mishaps
and I try to do my best to accomodate these needs. However, I could not
and did
not for anybody extend the deadline for 9 days. The only reason why I
cannot do
that is because I think it would be unfair to those who tried so hard to catch
the deadline. This will also cause delay on the distributions of abstacts,
full papers and publications of the full papers and exc... And if you
remember,
I also replied to the whole mailbase instead of just Ros's email adress
so that
everybody knows what my position was about that late submissons.
I hope this clarifies my perspective on this for you.
If you have further questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
as always,
A.Sema Kubat
