The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee
has just published its Report on "Science and Teaching
in Schools". It can be downloaded as a PDF file from

[all one line]
Compared with Mathematics (which crops up repeatedly),
Statistics gets relatively little space. While one
cannot disagree with anything the RSS wrote in their
written evidence, they seem to have been content with
rather general remarks, and to have rather pulled their
punches regarding the subject's relationship with
mathematics and regarding its essential role in the
science of evidence and information, and have merely
hinted (in mentioning its role in the methodology of
various sciences etc.) at its theoretical aspects of
modelling and the investigation of scientific hypotheses.
Anyway, that's just my impression! Hoping for comments!
Best wishes to all,
Ted.
