And for completeness, the Royal Society library has copies of both
"Science at War" and "Science and The Nation".
The Royal Society's library specialises in history of science and
science policy - especially activities that involved our Fellows (which
both those books did). Anyone can use the library - you just need some
photo and address id to register. Details, catalogue etc:

The Wellcome Library holds the second title mentioned by Michael
(Science and the nation, 1947) and probably more on the subject. You
can search the catalogue at http://library.wellcome.ac.uk/. The Library
is open to all.
Best wishes
