Dick and Ken,
You remind me of other details. The California conversations (ISI)
were not supported, while the Austrian conversations (IFSR) were.
Through IFSR, the Austrian government generously paid for lodging and
two meals per day. Invitations for ISI were made by past attendees;
it was one of their responsibilities to bring in new voices.
Invitations for IFSR were made by organizers, with suggestions from
others. The methodology employed at both was actually quite
sophisticated and consciously developed over the years, and I and
others can provide fairly rich documentation to those who wish to
engage more fully in exploring alternatives. This should be available
online again shortly; a domain was allowed to expire a couple weeks
ago and taken over by a porn site--a reminder to all to check your
links!
I'm very pleased to be learning about other methodologies here.
Best wishes,
Gordon Rowland
