That may sound convincing in a kind of poetic way but it is completely counter to reality. Original design thinking can very
often be followed by a slow slide into mediocrity as less ambitious designers and the deadening hand of the regulator dilute the
idea. The original Ford Mustang was a bold move to create a new class of car, the modern version is predictable and
undifferentiated:

One can see the same effects in the original 1959 Issigonis Mini and the bloated modern BMW financed version, or the original
"pagoda roofed" Mercedes SL sports car and its overweight successors.
Never mind there is still (just about) one pure and undiluted innovation in road vehicles that you can buy today, and it costs a
lot less than a Mustang
