Hi Chris,
I understand the constraints most academics face in light of email,
lack of time, and relevance/personal interest. As an academic,
student, practitioner, mother and list member, I rarely respond to
list postings these days due to the same reasons. I also understand
that people pick up on things differently, and my posting was due to
the fact that I initially enjoyed reading Rosan's post about the
conference and because of my own research perspective, posted a
question to her. Then I read Dori's, as I was interested to know what
she thought of the conference, but couldn't access the information
due to typo issues. I saw David's positive response to Dori's and was
a bit shocked as it seemed to obliquely and negatively refer to
Rosan's post. Remember, this is all from MY perspective.
I responded online to Rosan's post, asking her to elaborate on her
comments about the words 'gendered' and 'homogenous', and received an
offlist response from her that answered my questions, and which also
mentioned that she was signing off the list for reasons that I don't
think I can post without her consent.
So, I felt it was important to me to open this discussion, as I feel
that a valuable perspective has now been lost from this community. I
was curious to hear what others' felt, or whether it matters to
anyone else? Again, I want to emphasise my intention to be helpful,
offering what I thought was a considered posting to raise an issue
that might be of interest to others. Perhaps not?
kindly, teena
