Lecturer in Product Design
The School of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering has
developed a new course in Product Design and Manufacture, which is now
entering its third year. Due to its continuing success in attracting
greater numbers of high quality students, an additional lecturer post has
been created.
The course provides a balanced education in both the engineering and
creative attributes of the product design profession. It teaches design
using current industry practices, developing traditional skills along side
new technology. This new post is to support the creative and design based
aspects of the course. Teaching will involve the development of student
design skills core to the subject of product design. The successful
candidate will contribute to the teaching of functional and aesthetic
competencies through involvement in project work taught in a studio
environment.
Candidates should have a background in industrial design or product design
and have a proven research record in an area which matches or has links to
one of the School's established research groups. A PhD in a relevant
discipline will be an advantage. Details of the School's research groups

Salary will be within the range£28,009 - £37,643 pa, depending on
Qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £43,638 pa, subject
to performance).
