Just wondering why? Seems much easier for the doctoral candidate to do the
opposite?
Research contributing to new knowledge that enables the design of a new
product would be classic research. This is the norm in e.g. engineering
design, software design, organisation design, acoustic design, lighting
design and many other design fields. In contrast, research that focuses on
the experiences or reflective subjective process of the designer is subject
to some strong criticisms in epistemological terms.
