QUARRELLING WITH GOD: Mystic Rebel Sufi Music and Poetry of Turkey
You are invited to attend a seminar and concert by Turkish
saz-player and poet LATIF BOLAT on Friday 14 July 2006.
Both events take place in the Khalili Lecture Theatre [Lower Ground Floor,
SOAS main building, Thornhaugh Street, London WC1]. Nearest tube: Russell
Square.
The seminar will be presented at 6.30-7.30pm. There will be a half-hour
intermission, followed by a concert from 8.00pm to 9.00pm.
Some of you may remember that wonderful concert that Latif did for us last
year. This year he is extending the presentation.
His talk and recital will focus on the poetry and music of the more
"troublesome" of the medieval Turkish mystic dervish poet-troubadours, from
the 12th century onwards.
Admission is to both events is free, but SEATS MUST BE RESERVED IN ADVANCE.
Send an e-mail to [log in to unmask], with the heading "Latif Bolat
Concert", and an e-ticket will be sent by return.
Please state the number of tickets needed, and the names of the people
attending, putting surnames first.
