UNIVERSITY OF LONDON - SCHOOL OF ADVANCED STUDY
INSTITUTE OF MUSICAL RESEARCH
MIDDLE EAST AND CENTRAL ASIA MUSIC FORUM
Friday March 2nd, 2007
Senate House, University of London
We are delighted to announce the launch of the Middle East and Central
Asia Music Forum, the first meeting of which will take place on Friday
March 2nd 2007 at Senate House, University of London. Under the auspices
of the Institute of Musical Research, this twice-yearly research forum
will provide an opportunity for those working on the musics of Central
Asia and the Middle East (including North Africa) to meet and discuss
their current research.
The event is open to researchers, students and anyone interested in the
music and culture of the region. In the spirit of fostering dialogue and
interdiscplinarity, we hope that the issues discussed at the forum will be
of interest to a broad audience, including musicologists,
ethnomusicologists and other researchers in the arts, humanities and
social sciences. In addition, we welcome those working on other aspects of
Middle Eastern and Central Asian culture broadly speaking (dance, visual
arts, media, film, literature, etc.). Future meetings may be 'themed'.
