Hi Chris
Here at Leeds we have always used ILLOS because it meets all our ILL
management needs. Obviously, it would advantageous to have an integrated
system but the ILL module has always had too many disadvantages compared
with ILLOS. The big stumbling block for us has been that until recently
the ILL module has not offered the ADD address facility which is
absolutely crucial for the way we operate. Now that it does, it might be
worth another look but I'm now concerned that it doesn't provide the SED
delivery option which we offer. Again, this is integrated into our ILLOS
online ordering forms and requests are automatically flagged as SED when
they go to BLDSC, ensuring a speedy and efficient service. I'm not sure
how we would identify who wanted print and who wanted electronic
delivery if there is no option to specify this online. And my guess is
that it would take a long time for this to be developed if ADD address
is anything to go by, by which time there could well be other new
developments we would want and which ILLOS can implement much more
rapidly. There are also other things which ILLLOS does better - request
history, chasers, letters - to name but three.
I would be interested in finding out if any Millennium sites have
abandoned ILLOS in favour of ILL module and what their experience has
been, particularly those who offer online ordering and/or SED. You can
send any reponses to me at address below (sorry Chris for hijacking your
query:))
Best wishes
Wendy

I am carrying out a review of ILL systems to inform planning here at
Hull and would be interested to know, on or off list, how many UK
Millennium sites make use of the ILL module, or whether you use a
separate package to manage document supply (and if so, why). Thanks.
Regards,
Chris
