Dear all (and apologies for cross-posting),
Due to the last-minute withdrawal of a prospective student, a funded
place has become available on one of our MSc courses.
MSc in Archaeological Prospection – Shallow Geophysics (1 year).
The course provides detailed training in geophysical techniques suitable
for shallow investigations, which are also commonly used in archaeology
(see Time Team). Students will gain an understanding of the principles,
and are trained in field practice and data processing. Techniques
covered include Ground Penetrating Radar, earth resistance and magnetic
survey. In addition, a thorough introduction to soils and chemical
prospection provides a wider perspective on other available methods.
The studentship covers all University fees and (for UK students) a
living allowance of £7900 as well as £500 field expenses. The course
starts on 25 September 2006.
