Dear all,
Just a reminder that the abstract deadline for this year's European
Geophysical Union conference is Friday, 13 January and the website is

NH4.04 Stress Interaction, Earthquake Probability Changes and
Societal Implications (co-listed in SM)
This session focuses on the recent developments of fault stress
interaction and related probability changes. There are a number of
outstanding issues, including: Does a stress threshold exist for
triggering? Are there differences in the seismic consequences for the
same magnitude of stress change due to interseismic, coseismic or
postseismic processes? How can stress changes be translated into
probability changes and how sensitive are these results to details of
the accelerating time to failure models? Are such probability
estimates robust and, if so, how can they best be conveyed to end
users such as civil protection agencies and local authorities?
The aim of this session is to bring together scientists, end users,
and public policy makers to examine the scientific basis for
stress-based time-dependent seismic hazard and the societal
implications of such assessments. Contributions are welcome on all
aspects of the science and its implications.
