Dear All,
The British Geophysical Association was recently approached by the Royal
Society and asked for input at short notice into the current
discussion on the disposal of nuclear waste, instigated by the Committee on
Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM). The BGA Committee does not include any
experts on the geoscientific aspects of nuclear waste disposal and is wary of
any pronouncement being credited with an "expert" status that it does not deserve.
In order to raise awareness of the CoRWM discussions and to generate debate on the
geophysical matters involved in waste management, we should like to have the views
and opinions of the geophysical community to inform any future response, in
particular those of you who have expertise in this particular aspect of geophysics.
Please do respond, to the list or directly to me
([log in to unmask])
with your views and, most importantly, a statement of your level of expertise.

Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,
Sheila Peacock
on behalf of BGA Committee.
