Inter-disciplinary Perspectives on Italy and Cinema
A Postgraduate Conference

Abstracts for papers are requested on the theme of Italy On-Screen, from
research students in any area of Italian and Film Studies, including
those working across disciplines, for example: comparative literature,
music, history, gender studies, politics and philosophy.
Possible subjects for papers include:
The romance of Italy
Italian cities and landscapes
Political movements
Italian women
Italian Stars
An outsider’s Italy
Italian auteurs
Italian literature on film
Contemporary Italy
Food and drink
Crime and violence
The Italian family
The Italian Diaspora
Music and soundtrack
Religion and religiosity
The conference will be introduced by Professor Geoffrey Nowell-Smith
(QMUL), author of The Companion to Italian Cinema (1996), and Luchino
Visconti (2003)
The keynote speaker will be Pauline Small (Senior Lecturer in Film, QMUL)
