Very interesting questions?
but i intended to be perverse!
I put Landow, Jacobs, Snow, Frampton in order to remove any pedantic norm
in film essay: I think that the novelty of this genre is its inner metissage,
its cross over-power (diary, documentary, etc.). So formalist/structural
film is a kind of essaying the world and the cinema between many others!
I hope this e mail encourage a debate about the boundaries of film essay.
