Hi chuck,
couldn't we think of the "error" or "goof" as a form of Freudian slip, not really errors at all but rather gateways to the
unconscious of the text. I think 'Casablanca' is a wonderful film for such an investigation of, what Jameson has called, the
political unconscious, but in an argument I presented recently on 'Casablanca' I called the formal unconscious. The text in some
ways gives way to a whole other reading.
