Would it be possible to look at My Mother's Castle from this point of view? The bereavement comes at the end, but the memory - the reliving of his mother's life - is through out the film. La Buche is an interesting film that is peppered with remembrances of the father, whose funeral opens the film. Blue, though directed by a Pole, might also be looked at in this light. KE

Can anybody think of any French or francophone films of the 2000s which are significantly about loss and bereavement? Only Sous le sable and Les Fils de Marie spring to mind...
Gratefully,
Richard
