Ref Haukar/ HMH's query, the nearest Warhol got to the empty frame was
Empire about the Empire State Building and Sleep about a man sleeping,
although at least in that one he turns over (a big moment this). However
Tony Conrad made The Flicker comprising only black and white frames, and the
Austrian Peter Kubelka made Arnulf Rainer which is again b/w frames
rhytmically patterned and with an optical soundtrack to match if I recall
correctly.
