Dear All,
The Compass of Horror International Film Festival is taking place in
Bristol from October 28–November 9, 2006 at venues city-wide,
showcasing the very best of modern international horror cinema.
With a fortnight of events and activities, based around a core weekend (4 &
5 November, at the Arnolfini) of screenings, encounters and dialogues, the
festival aims to develop a vital space for creativity, debate and cultural
exchange. Using the compass as our guide, we offer four cultural reference
points from which to explore the diversity of global attitudes to horror cinema.
Festival highlights include J-horror UK premiere 'Rampo Noir',
groundbreaking exposure of the expansive home grown Nigerian film
market Nollywood, first of Canadian teen werewolf cycle 'Ginger
Snaps', and cult classic 'Dust Devil'. All films are accompanied by a
panel discussion with the films' respective directors, leading
academics and film critics, including John Fawcett, Richard Stanley
and Kim Newman.
Festival tickets are available now from the Arnolfini or call the box office
on +44 (0)1179172300. Festival tickets are also available from Bristol
Ticket Shop (+44(0)8704444400), Cube Microplex (+44 (0)1179074190) and
Kuumba Centre (+44 (0)1179421870). Festival tickets allow access to all
events (£18 full/13 concs/£9 unemployed), and are available until 27
October. Tickets for individual events are available from respective venues.
Please find attached a press release and PDF of the festival programme. If
you would like further information, please email [log in to unmask],
