I thought it was pretty obvious that he was saying that the category
was hopelessly broad -- like asking for "films with images of human
beings" or "films with fades to black". Canyon Cinema alone
distributes thousands of "non-story driven short films". Most of the
responses that did come seemed to ignore the "recent" qualification.
A more useful response *might* be (I'm just sayin) to suggest that the
original poster plow thru archived calendars of various screening
organizations, experimental/documentary festivals, etc. (Experimenta,
Chicago Filmmakers, Onion City Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival,
San Francisco Cinematheque, Pacific Film Archive, Ocularis, PDX,
NYUFF, CUFF ... these folks actually do show "new non-story driven
short films" all the time) looking for things that sound like what
she's looking for, and to ask questions about those. See the flicker
website http://www.hi-beam.net/cgi-bin/flicker.pl for helpful links.
