Dear All,
I would also add Barison and Ross' fascinating philosophico-cinematic
essay, 'The Ister' (2004). I know this film was the subject of a string
last year on the topic of 'pretentiousness,' but I suspect much of that
discussion was mislead by not appreciating the peculiar narrative
transgressions and generic diosyncrasies of the 'essay film'--especially
one that is philosophical, pedagogical, and political at once.
Regards,
Robert
