Salary £13802 to £18673 pa - Research Assistant Scale (new pay framework pending)


With experience of pedagogical and/ or educational research, you will have worked in formal education, particularly the higher education sector. You will have some knowledge of the theory, practice and literature of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Education for Sustainability (EFS). 


As a member of the Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF) research team, you will work closely with full-time and seconded CSF staff on ESD and EFS-related pedagogical research and dissemination, curriculum development, and learning materials development, across the university and in conjunction with CSF partner organisations.


Creative curriculum materials development skills and experience, innovative presentational skills and good interpersonal skills are essential. Experience in conducting quantitative research would be advantageous but not essential. 


This is a fixed term appointment until the end of May 2010 and starts as soon as possible.

Salary £13802 to £18673 pa - Research Assistant range (new pay framework pending)


With experience of environmental and sustainability research (including, preferably, environmental and sustainability education research), you will have knowledge of key concepts in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, and Education for Sustainable Development. You will also have experience of HE programme design and experience of writing academic papers and reports.

As a member of the Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF) research team, you will work with Dr. Colin Trier and other academic staff in the School of Earth, Ocean and Environmental Science (SEOES) currently affiliated to CSF as Centre Fellows in helping implement an in-depth strategy to embed Education for Sustainable Development in SEOES and its programmes of study. In pursuance of your work, you will liaise regularly with Dr. James Gray-Donald, CSF Research Coordinator, and with the CSF Interdisciplinary Working Group.

You will hold a relevant first degree and, preferably, a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area.

This is a fixed-term appointment until 31 May 2007.
