Hi Anita
We've just had a new website launched - www.favourite-things.org.uk -
that has a very simple to use drag and drop interactive. It uses a set
number of parts, but our design team - www.display.co.uk - have equiped
us with an interactive editor. We can now use this with schools to
allow them to design and create interactives for our site, within the
constraints of a drag and drop interactive, as much as they like, on any
museum/history/literacy topic of their choice.
The first interactive we have used is admittedly not the best in the
world, but we are now working on new and more interactives that can be
used both to support NatCurr topics, and just to engage users in an
informal learning setting.
Hope this helps

Thank you to people who made suggestions to me. I thought my software
was up to date, but it clearly wasnt. Now all is working. Great stuff!
Would someone like to comment on what skills one needs in order to
create this? In other words, how highly technical would it seem to a
teacher - even to do some simple moving parts? Locating marvellous
resources on the web is wonderful and useful, but many teacher would
love to do their own. Or, do you think it would be simpler, cheaper,
safer, and equally satisfying to engage someone to do it [given the pros
of getting it done perhaps much better, vs the difficulties in
explaining what one really needs?

These look fascinating; I was looking for something like this to show
other developers. But unfortunately the only one that really works they
way it promises is the art one where you build up a face. I cant
imagine this would be the fault of my computer. I havent got time to go
into details of all of them, but the enterprise one does nothing but
show the picture of Gott; the bugs one tells you that you'll get
information about each body when you move the mouse over it, but you
dont. I did give the system time to download.
Perhaps this was a busy time
?

Subject: Online learning Resources
Hi,
i work for a small local authority museum in north london and we
are
looking to develop some interesting online resources for
children as part
of our boroughs Childrens Observatory. I would be interested to
see what
other museums have done. Could anyone recommnend any websites
that i could
look at. Im thinking about informal learning here not directly
related to
school.
Thanking you in advance for your help.
Best wishes
