UEL PHD ANTHROPOLOGY RESEARCH & TASTER DAY

THE EVENT:
This will be a one-day anthropology event at UEL incorporating research
discussions to provide a 'taster environment' for prospective PhD
applicants and a collaborative space for student and established
researchers. This environment will be demonstrated through research at UEL
and through presentations inclusive of work-in-progress by students and
post-doctoral researchers among others.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
(1) Students interested in doing a PhD
It is open to anyone interested in knowing more about PhD research at UEL
and looking to embark on PhD studies. If you would like to register for
participation please contact the organisers.
(2) It is open to PhD/MA/BA students, postdoctoral researchers, PhD
supervisors and others doing innovative work who would like to participate
in research discussions.
If you would like to give a talk on your research/work in progress, your
experiences of doing or supervising PhD research, or on negotiating the
research environment, please contact the organisers with an abstract (200
words max.) by June 2, 2006.
TRAVEL BURSARIES PROVIDED BY C-SAP (CENTRE FOR THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF
SOCIOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY AND POLITICS)
* A small number of postgraduate travel bursaries funded by C-SAP are
available for the event. Both PhD and MA students are encouraged to apply.
* You do not have to present on your work to be eligible. Email the
organisers with your details and likely travel expenses. State your
research interests and say how you feel the event would benefit you.
The event aims to:
* Provide a collaborative space for doctoral and post-doctoral research.
* Provide a forum to share and exchange research insights on the PhD.
* Provide a focused space for potential PhD students interested in
anthropology to learn about the research process/environment and, thus,
engage them through a research mode.
* Offer potential applicants an opportunity to learn more about
anthropology research at UEL and meet potential supervisors.
* Provide opportunities for students/potential students to engage with
experienced researchers.
