Firstly I would like to thank all members of the mailbase who responded to my
previous emails asking about how to ensure compatibility between analysers. The
responses were very helpful but very diverse.
As the first stage of evaluating our two Bayer 1650 analysers we compared results
from 50 patient samples done over a period of one week. Agreement was excellent
for most analytes. However, I was greatly surprised by the results of GammGT
where the means of the fifty samples were identical (121.520IU/l) with similar but
not identical SD and as a result the t-statistic for a paired t-test was 0.00 and the 2-
tailed p 1.0000. Fantastic, but not quite perfect. A Deming analysis gave the result
y=1.0165x-2.0022 and both slope and intercept were outside the 95% CI for 1 and
zero respectively. Just goes to show there is always the need to look at the data.
But I am still proud of that p value.
