To interested members of this list:
Since it now turns out (alas) that I'll be unable to attend Wonderground to
present my paper in November, I've posted it on my web site at the address
below in order to open it up to any DRS and list members, who might welcome
further conversation about valuing as a root metaphor for designing. You'll
find it at:
http://www.uoregon.edu/~diethelm/Designing06.pdf
I've also posted a PowerPoint show (.pps) of the paper that adds diagrams,
illustrations and examples to make the logic of the thinking more visual.
The paper and show are intended to be complementary, each with their unique
media-bound contributions to describing the larger whole. Whichever you
start with, you will probably want to see/read the additions and
elaborations of the other.
The paper, entitled {Designing in an Intentional Field} is 1.7 MB, and the
PowerPoint Show is called {Designing}.pps. {Designing}.pps. is a zip file
of about 1MB. You'll find it on my web page under the Egyptian eye of Ra.
The two files are an attempt to craft a more comprehensive version of some
of the things I've posted on this list over the past two years and will
probably be of interest mostly to those who know me somewhat from these past
contributions. Warning: the paper is highly speculative and may be dangerous
to your present vocabulary of designing.
If you have any difficulty finding or downloading the files, simply drop me
a request and I'll be happy to send them to you.
Warm regards,
Jerry
