Responsiblities: To take responsibility for overall management and
implementation of the Midwifery Education Program in the Institute of
Health Sciences (IHS) in Kabul, Afghanistan , while working to increase
the capacity of I.H.S staff to do the same.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall management and implementation of the Midwifery
Education Program at IHS, working with AKUSON and I.H.S staff to improve
the quality of the education program.
Responsible for all aspects of the technical quality of program delivery
and outcomes, particularly the quality of teaching and learning in
classroom and clinical contexts.
Work alongside the Program Coordinator to develop her capacity and that of
technical staff involved in implementing the program
Develop clinical staff in hospital and IHS teachers and clinical
teachers/preceptors to enable them to supervise and support students both
in clinical skills training and skills laboratory areas.
Liaise with line managers in all training areas ensuring good
communication with training program and with individual students.
Continue to identify clinical training sites with the IHS midwifery
director and course coordinator to meet the requirements of the program.
Coordinate midwifery-related activities with local health and government
authorities and IHS management.
Establish sustainable processes and procedures for on-going coordination
between IHS, MoPH, MoHE, NGOs and donors, in conjunction with I.H.S and
management consultant.
Strengthen the professional status of midwifery in all training areas by
personal example and professional leadership.
Contribute to evaluation strategies for midwifery training in Afghanistan
and together with AKU colleagues prepare appropriate professional papers.
Work according to official AKDN and MoPH policies and procedures.
Advise, as requested, on AKUSON strategic planning.
Carry out any duties assigned by the Head of Program.
Requirements:
Western-trained practicing midwife, with experience in midwifery education
3-5 years experience relevant to this post
Pleasant personality and diplomatic abilities
Good organizational skills
Fluent in written and spoken English
Computer Literate in Word and Excel
Willing to work in Afghanistan for at least 11 months
