I agree with Denise. I personally subscribed to this list with an eye to
possible discussions and exchanges with other postgrad researchers. Looking
for and exchanging references seem to me activities that are part of such
exchanges. Also, not only it is a good way to sparkle discussion, but
because it is very difficult to keep track of the vastity of the material
out there in any given subfield/topic, I always find it very useful when I
talk about the topic I am working on and people give me references. I don't
think the list should be restricted to mere exchanges of conference ads and
calls for papers.
