- We introduced a new Architect and during the evaluation we realized that
Folate was not stable more
- than 2 weeks. After different investigations, we found that the machine
was contaminated with
- Pseudomonas (buffer reservoir culture positive).
Dear Isshan,
we've been through the same thing and our Abbott representative says that
Abbott is working on a new wash buffer for these contamination problems.
After various experiments we're doing reasonably well with these procedures:
1. we prepare the wash buffer only when it's time to load it
2. when loading buffer we eliminate any residues of old buffer by removing
the old 20 liter tank and loading a new one (be careful with the tubing
connections)
3. do plenty wash buffer primes particularly after weekends or anyway if the
module is idle for a long time
4. increment the frequency of automatic, periodic fluid primes (sorry but at
the moment I'm out of the lab and I don't remember where this part of the
setup is )
Every so often you will have to decontaminate with bleach (I don't remember
the number but there is a guided procedure for this). Good luck
