medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Not strictly relevant (I too have had a long week), but I always rather
liked Paul Binski's theory that the image of David in the Lincoln
Cathedral Angel Choir is compsoing the psalms and looking east even as
the sun rises for the morning Hours.
And I note that William of Wykeham asked for special attention to be
paid to the celebration of his obit in the evening, and that he chantry
is in his nave at Winchester -- a building that would be as illuminated
by the evening sun as the Angel Choir is by the dawn.
These people were alive to such things.
Good night (in the UK).
