medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear listmembers,
reading Jacques de Vitrys historia occidentalis (cap. 5, ed. Hinnebusch, p.
86) I found a short mention of a daemon, who called himself the pen in the
ink (penna in inchausto), since he was instructed by the lord to preach the
evangelical truth. Jacques says, that this happend 'in Alemannia'. Has
anyone met this story ? Or is there something like a literary tradition of
the lord using daemons or evil spirits to do his work in special cases ?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions !
Yours Vera
