medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
While scanning the most recent additions to the electronic editions at
Gallica, I saw:
Gue/nebault, Louis-Jean. Dictionnaire iconographique des figures,
le/gendes et actes des saints .... Au Petit-Montrouge : chez l'e/diteur,
1850. 1232 col. ; in-4. Encyclope/die the/ologique ; 45.
The first part (a little over half) is devoted to an alphabetical list of
saints and their attributes. A short supplement follows, and then a list
of attributes and their saints begins on page 381 of the electronic file.
The work's table of contents begins on page 615.
The bibligraphical notice is at:
http://gallica.bnf.fr/Catalogue/noticesInd/FRBNF30549992.htm
and includes a link to the download page. The file is about 55MB, so
estimate your download time on that basis (in my case, about 10 minutes
with DSL).
The image quality is decent; I've seen some better and many far worse at
Gallica. I noticed at least a couple of pages where the text disappeared
into the gutter, but that might not be a problem for more than those two.
