Dear All,
In EBM we often teach about clinical prediction rules, but I wonder
which ones clinicians actually use?
It would be useful to have a list to give to students of practical
validated rules. So can I ask those working clinically for their
suggestions of rules you've actually used more than once in the care
of patients?
As a starter, here are some that I've used:
Framingham CVD risk (eg Rod Jackson's)
Ottawa ankle rules
Simplified Walsh strep throat rule (5 items)
Wells DVT rules
Whooley 2-questions for depression
Appendicitis - Alvarado score
Mini-cog for dementia
Many thanks
PS A list of the prediction rules published in the EBM journal is available at:
