Peter and all,
A recent European Education Partnership meeting (http://www.eep-edu.org)
brainstormed this issue and came up with the following as the key levers for
improved teaching and learning from the use of VLEs/Learning Platforms.
1) Out of school/college access.
2) Teacher/lecturer one-stop shop for curriculum, schemes of work, exam
syllabuses, resources etc etc.
3) Students seeing their learning; assessment as learning.
4) Student one-stop shop for the content they need; compelling content
linked to learning through the platform structure.
5) Students able to discuss online and to collaborate with peers/teachers.
6) ROI from re-engineering school/college organisation and teaching approach
(with great clarity on this needed for principals and government).
7) Inclusion of parents/carers/mentors; 'trialogue'.
Quite a number of matches to your list.
Regards
Roger.
Roger Broadie,
Chief Executive,
European Education Partnership.
