e-learning / web technician
Grade 7 - Actual salary: £9,743
26.5 hours per week - 39 weeks (term time) only
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to help us develop our web site and e-learning vision. We are in the process of re-launching the College web site and intend to keep this up to date and vibrant, reflecting the varied activities of our community. We are also promoting the use of e-learning and aim to encourage teachers by providing support in developing online materials for use on a Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle).
We need an individual with imagination, people skills and technical competence to help make both these exciting projects a reality.
Main duties:
1) To advise and assist staff in the development of e-learning materials by
Ø Training staff in the use of e-learning
Ø Adapting existing material into a digital format
Ø Working with staff to create new course materials
Ø Identifying suitable materials that could be obtained from outside the college
2) To undertake administration of the virtual learning / e-learning system where appropriate
3) To promote the use and development of college websites and e-learning materials.
4) To monitor college websites for compliance with the DDA
5) To ensure the content of the college website is up to date by
Ø Identifying suitable material to be included
Ø Capturing, digitising, adapting or converting material for use on the college website
Ø Uploading files to the website
Ø Liaising with staff to ensure current information is added to the website
Ø Ensuring out of date information is deleted or archived
6) Maintain and follow a site map of the web site
7) Apportion and control any access rights other staff may have to areas of the web site.
8) Work with the producers of existing paper based publications to integrate these into the website and develop systems to ensure this continues.
9) Maintain awareness of any Internet presence by Rawlins, including unofficial sites.
10) Work with interested parties in developing the future strategies of the College web presence and e-learning programme
