medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
With the customary expression of regret for any untoward effects of
cross-posting.
For next summer's International Medieval Congress at Leeds (10.-13. July
2006), an already accepted session on aspects of friendship in Latin
texts (ca. 300 - ca. 1500) could now use a third 20-minute paper.
Philosophical, theological, or encyclopedic considerations of friendship
are all potentially relevant here, as are also depictions of friendship
(or of friendship abused or betrayed) in historical or in purely
"literary" writing. A really good treatment of sustained enmity might
also do the trick.
In addition to paper title and a brief abstract (not exceeding 100
words), proposals should contain the following information:
1. One's name and academic affiliation (including department or
program) in the form in which these are to appear in the programme.
2. One's e-mail address of preference.
3. Postal address at which one wishes to receive, in February, the
Congress' registration form and printed programme (please specify Home
or Office).
4. Any requested computer or audio/visual support.
Proposals arriving within the next two weeks will receive first
consideration. These should be addressed to me at:
