medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
_Mystics Quarterly_ is sponsoring three sessions at the International
Congress on Medieval Studies (Kalamazoo, Western Michigan University, usa,
4 May 2006 - 7 May 2006) and invites abstracts.
1. Mysticism of the Later Middle Ages. Papers on any fourteenth and
fifteenth mystical writers or texts (both continental and insular), as well
as topical subjects (instruction, dissemination, audience, use of the
vernacular, etc.).
2. The Carthusians and the Mystical Tradition.
3. Charting the Boundaries between the Mystical and the Devotional. Papers
on the convergence or divergence between
mystical and devotional texts, how mystical texts can be used in
a devotional way, elements of mystical thought in texts which have been
considered devotional, etc.
Deadline for abstracts is 15 September 2005.
