In response to Jim Bugslag's question/comment as to whether the sexes
were segregated in England. The custom was observed (and still is in
some cases) in Presbyterian chapels in Wales and this, it seems, is
based on a custom which was carried over from the Anglican parish
church. Althoughh I have not come across any documentary evidence which
would corroberate this.
