medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
In the _Missale Romanum_ (prior to the new lectionary of 1970), the gospel
pericope of the last judgement was read on the last Sunday of the year and
repeated on the following Sunday, the first of Advent. I don't know whether
this was a standard practice in 14c Italy. If memory serves, there is a
table of gospel readings in the 'Pericope' article in the New Catholic
Encyclopedia. I don't have access to the online version now, but your
university may. That might be a good place to start. For more detail, there
are sources and additional bibliography in Eric Palazzo, _A history of
liturgical books_, and Cyril Vogel, _Medieval Liturgy:an introduction to the
sources_.

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hello,
I'm working on my PhD concerning the iconography of the Last Judgement
in 14th century Italian art. I would like to ask if anybody knows if
the Western Church had a specific date to celebrate or to remember the
Last Judgement. Any bibliography would also be of great help.
Thanks to all,
Tamara Quírico
