PUBLIC LIBRARY BUILDING AWARDS 2005
DELEGATES’ CHOICE CATEGORY – YOUR CHANCE TO VOTE
The Public Libraries Group (PLG) of the Chartered Institute of Library and
Information Professionals (CILIP) launched the Public Library Building
Awards in 1995. The Awards recognise the highest level of new and
refurbished library development across the UK and Ireland. Awarded
biennially, this round was open to new and refurbished libraries opened
between 1st January 2003 through to 31st March 2005. To mark the 10th
anniversary this year, and to reflect changes in public library design,
management and use new categories were introduced focussing on areas of
key importance in building practice and to users.
One of the new categories in this year’s Public Library Building Awards is
the Delegates’ Choice. The Delegates’ Choice category will be won by the
library receiving the most votes from members of the Public Libraries
Group via the group’s website and from delegates attending the Public
Library Authorities Conference in October.
To see the 17 libraries which have been longlisted in this category visit
the Public Library Group website at: www.cilip.org.uk/plg and follow the
links to PLG Buildings Awards and Delegates Choice. You can view video
clips and digital photographs for each of the libraries and if you are a
PLG member you can place your vote against the library you would like to
win.
