A few articles. Most of the books I found are focused on the Lanfranc/Berengar controversy or later - unless they are very elderly.
For a brief introduction to the larger issues, you might try Gary Macy, The Banquet's Wisdom (Paulist Pr, 1992).

Hi,
being new to the list I have been following discussions for a few weeks and
I have seen that good advice can be obtained from members.
So here is my request: Could any one give me a hint on introductory
literature on the eucharistarian controversy during the first half of the
ninth century. The question was apparently how "real" the presence of Christ
in bread and wine actually was.
I am interested in the question because one newly emerged suspect for
forging the pseudo-Isidorian decretals, Paschasius Radbertus, was involved
in the debate, and as some eucharistarian texts are interspersed in the
decretals it might be interesting to see whether those texts fit friend
Radbertus' point of view on the matter.
Thanks a lot for any hints.
