IJCAI-05: The Nineteenth International Joint Conference on
Artificial Intelligence
SGAI, the British Computer Society Specialist Group on
Artificial Intelligence, was the national AI society responsible for
hosting IJCAI-05, which took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, at
the beginning of August. This biennial series of Artificial
Intelligence conferences is the premier world forum for
presenting advances in artificial Intelligence. I am pleased to be
able to report that the conference was a great success, attracting
over 1,000 delegates from 48 countries. There was a very
strong scientific programme, together with an excellent social
programme.
This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the formation of
SGAI. The Group is proud to have been given the opportunity in
its 25th anniversary year to bring IJCAI back to Britain for the
first time since 1971.
For the first time all the papers presented in the conference are
available for downloading free of charge from the IJCAI website
at http://www.ijcai.org/proceedings05.php. Hardcopy and CD
versions of the complete proceedings are also available for
purchase from IJCAI.
