Perhaps the suppliers should consider how they can bring together individual strengths and expertise and work together rather than competing with each other or is this too radical? For this to happen, library authorities have to be more demanding and make it clear what the expectations are instead of debating the issue. To do this we have to be close to the customers needs and expectations and feed this back to suppliers.
A Central supplier can only be an option if they prove that they can reach a standard of excellence which is not only meeting current needs, but which can foresee future demand and readily adapt to change
